5 thoughtful ways to celebrate Mother’s Day

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday 30 March 2025. So we’ve put together a whole host of inspiring (and some unexpected) ideas to help you spoil your mum, partner, best friend, step-mum and mums-to-be at Teesside Park.

Whether it’s breakfast in bed, pampering beauty ideas, family sharing lunches with grandparents too or active days out together – here are all the best ideas for Mothering Sunday (also don’t forget the clocks go forwards an hour if you book anything…).

1. The most wanted Mother’s day gifts

First of all, the basics cannot be overlooked: cards, flowers, chocolate and jewellery. Marks & Spencer have recently launched their gorgeous in-store Flower Market across the UK featuring carefully sourced and long-lasting bouquets including the Peony Kiss and Eucalyptus, £35, and colourful spring tulips while Morrisons source all their seasonal bouquets from British suppliers.

For cards, encourage the kids to make their own colourful creations with their art supplies with a trip to Hobbycraft, The Works and Poundland.

This year Hotel Chocolat has delicate yellow Mother’s Day boxes (from £17.95 to the Luxe, £44.95) or go for the Chocolate & Fizz collection: their Signature Prosecco, an Everything H-Box, pink champagne truffles and more. Or treat her to the most-wanted Velvetiser hot chocolate maker, £99, along with The Everything Selection chocolate and lattes.

For something she can treasure forever, Market Cross Jewellers, Next, River Island and TK Maxx have beautiful jewellery and watches or be inspired at Pandora by creating a personalised piece with the children’s names and dates of birth – they also have a gorgeous Disney collection too.

Other coveted presents for spring 2025 include: wideleg and barrel jeans, leopard-print Nike Air Max 1 ’87 women’s trainers, UGG Tasmans in pale blue, butter-yellow homewares and Beats Powerbeats Pro 2. So stop by schuh, Nike Unite, Clarks, Next, River Island, SportsDirect.com, Asda Living, currys and TK Maxx.

2. Breakfast in bed…

Got little early risers? Then there’s no greater gift than some extra hours of sleep followed by a delicious breakfast in bed. Stock up on coffee, croissants, sweet treats and tasty juices at Marks & Spencer, Morrisons and Asda Living. Serve it up on a gorgeous tray of pretty tableware from TK Maxx and ProCook.

3. Mother’s Day menus: brunch and lunch

For big family sharing feasts with the kids and grandparents, book in for TGI Fridays (join their Stripes loyalty scheme and children eat free). With classic ribs, chicken and fajitas, Cajun-spiced mac’n’cheese, pecan pie and S’mores sundaes, it’s an absolute crowd pleaser for all ages.

If you want to do something for the two of you, book the babysitter and take her out for an elegant menu for fresh pizza and pasta, prosecco, cocktails and gorgeous desserts at Pizza Express or sushi, noodles and lychee cocktails at wagamama.

4. Family day out together

Make it a Mothering Sunday that’s full of fun. Ninja Warrior – inspired by the TV show – is a swinging, bouncing and climbing adventure park designed to get you moving. With a warped wall, obstacle courses and inflatables plus pizza and fries, chocolate-covered donuts and Belgian waffles, it’s a brilliant day out for kids four and over. Book here.

Or head to Hollywood Bowl, for a family game of ten-pin bowling with 31 lanes, mini golf, an amusements arcade and American-style diner. Book here.

Take a trip to Showcase Cinema de Lux to see Disney’s Snow White then go for family-friendly menus with burgers at Five Guys and peri-peri chicken at Nando’s.

5. Pampering beauty and wellbeing ideas

For new mums-to-be gifts and beauty pampers for all, be inspired at Next, Marks & Spencer (try their Wellbeing box featuring This Works, Dr Paw Paw and more), Primark, Boots and Superdrug. Mamas & Papas have everything for mums-to-be: pregnancy and feeding pillows to help with much-needed sleep, Welcome To The World gift boxes with soft toy, blanket and sleep suit and more.

All have gorgeous boxes of vegan-friendly replenishing face masks, overnight creams and nourishing cleansers while Rituals recommends bestsellers including The Ritual of Sakura gift set featuring fragrance sticks and hair and body mist; scented candles and the Tiny Rituals set for new parents.

Lush also has a limited edition Mother’s Day collection celebrating Mother Earth with the eye-catching and new Edamummy bath bomb, Good Mother Lizard reusable bubble bar, Keep it Fluffy body lotion and Mum gift boxes filled with Blooming Beautiful Orange Blossom bath bomb, Yummy Custard body wash and more.

For a fresh scent, look for notes of pistachio (Marks & Spencer’s Discover range has a £10 eau de toilette that beauty editors love) and classics such as Chanel Chance and Coco Mademoiselle, Miss Dior, Burberry Her, Valentino Born in Roma and Carolina Herrera Good Girl.

The other most-wanted beauty bits for spring 2025 include: Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Shower Oil and Byoma Phyto Mucin Glow Serum. And you can’t go wrong with silk pillowcases, eye masks or an LED face mask. Head to Rituals, Lush, Superdrug, Victoria’s Secret, Boots, Asda Living, Holland & Barrett, Marks & Spencer, Next and TK Maxx.
